The sensational new singer/songwriter FEMME was introduced to Alexia through stylist Irene Maricone and there was an instant connection. Together they decided to do a creative photo shoot mixing FEMME’s quirky vintage style and Alexia’s eccentric AW14 Pop Art explosion collection. Take a look at the incredible images of FEMME wearing Chelsea Girl, Nico and Love Affair as well as a behind the scenes video and an interview with FEMME.
You’ve just come back from your American tour with Charli XCX, was it incredible as it sounds? What were your highlights?
The shows were amazing and most of them were sold out so it was incredible to step out on stage to a full house every night. I loved our shows in Florida and Texas because the crowds were really wild and driving through the desert (for what seemed like days) from Dallas to Phoenix was a highlight too.
You always look flawlessly quirky and fashionable but, how would you describe your fashion sense?
Eclectic and bold. I like to mix old vintage treasures I’ve found with new designer pieces and have fun with it. There’s a sense of humour and make believe in my music which extends to my personal style, everyday and on stage. I like my oversized accessories and different textures and take a lot of inspiration from fashion of the 1960’s and 80’s pop icons.
Here at Alexia, we are obviously Femme fans, but what is it about Alexia that you were drawn to/like?
I like that you are breathing fresh air into a traditional, heritage accessory. Silk scarves have had an affiliation with a somewhat older and conservative audience in my mind until I saw what you were doing. You are breaking that stereotype with fresh prints and textures and bringing it up bang up to date.
